Encounter Christ 92, an initiative for english speakers
Seekers’ Journey, a seven-week faith discovery programme for the spiritually curious.
3 minutes de lecture
Encounter Christ 92 is an outreach initiative of the Diocese of Nanterre for English speakers in the Hauts-de-Seine (92) department and beyond. In this space we share on life’s big questions, in a warm and welcoming environment :
- Who am I ?
- What is my purpose here on Earth ?
- What does Jesus have to do with it ?
What is the programme ?
Our Seekers’ Journey, a seven-week programme, is particularly suitable for persons who feel drawn to exploring faith in God and Jesus Christ for the first time, as well as those for whom their Catholic identity was inherited or merely cultural, and who would like to start afresh with a more personal approach.
At every session, after opening with prayer and song, a video teaching invites reflection. This is followed by a time of small group sharing.

FAQ
Participants must be over 18 years.
- Is the programme in English ?
Yes, the entire programme and all communications and discussions are in English.
- Can I come if English is not my first but second language ?
Yes, if you understand written and spoken English, and can speak English fluently enough to fully participate in small group discussions, you’re very welcome to join us !
- Must I be Catholic or belong to another Christian denomination participate ?
No, the Seekers’ Journey is suitable for persons taking their first steps as spiritual seekers, regardless of their religious background, and who are open to hearing a Catholic Christian perspective.
- I’m a baptized Catholic who no longer practises and I’m not sure if I believe or not. Is this programme for me ?
This programme is suitable for persons who are re-embarking on a journey of personal questioning about the most fundamental aspects of faith in God. If that describes you, you’re very welcome to join us !
- I’m a practising Catholic. Can I participate ?
Some practising Catholics express that they are not sure if they believe what they learnt as children or if they have simply received passively what was passed on to them. This programme is an opportunity to ask oneself some fundamental questions that were never asked, and move forward with a more personal and intentional faith.
- I’m a believing Catholic, but I’d like to accompany a friend who is too afraid to come alone. Is that okay ?
Yes, that’s a great idea ! We’d love to meet you ! Just let us know when you’re signing up.
- Is this a space for debating differing religious viewpoints ?
Our « Seekers’ Journey » programme is not a debate forum. This does not mean there is no room for open and honest sharing. Indeed, our video teachings are intentionally thought provoking. However, the programme presupposes a minimum openness to discovering the Catholic Christian perspective. If necessary, we can guide you towards appropriate learning spaces and resources to go more in depth on topics with which you’re wrestling.
- Do I need to sign up beforehand ?
Yes, this helps us ensure there are enough materials and refreshments for everyone. It also helps us determine if the programme is the right fit for you.
- Do I have to attend all seven sessions ?
Yes, the sessions follow a particular sequence. We strongly recommend starting at session 1 and attending all the sessions.
- I know someone who might really like this, but they just can’t afford it right now. What should I do ?
None should be excluded from participation for financial reasons. Please call us !
